MOI Rolls “Accident-Free Day,” Offering a Four-Black-Point Reduction to Compliant Drivers
The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Federal Traffic Council and in coordination with police general HQs across the UAE, has launched the “Accident-Free Day” initiative to promote a culture of road safety and reinforce compliance with traffic laws and regulations among all segments of society.
The initiative will take place on August 31, coinciding with the first day of the new school year. It aims to strengthen compliance with traffic rules during a period of increased traffic and help create a safer environment for students, parents, and all road users.
The initiative brings together government and private-sector entities, community organizations, and members of the public through a range of awareness activities and programs. It also encourages motorists and pedestrians to adopt safe and sustainable road practices, strengthening community partnership and contributing to safer roads for everyone.
The initiative targets private vehicle drivers, truck and bus drivers, motorcyclists, government and private-sector entities, and members of the community, with activities taking place across the UAE.
“Accident-Free Day” also features the “Traffic Pledge,” which calls on participants to commit to a number of safe road behaviors, including refraining from using mobile phones while driving, observing posted speed limits, wearing seat belts, maintaining a safe following distance, yielding to pedestrians, and avoiding distractions while driving.
The initiative also offers participants who comply with the Traffic Pledge a reduction of four black traffic points, provided that they commit no traffic violations on August 31. Registration will open on August 17 and continue through August 31 via the designated channels. The point reduction will be processed electronically in accordance with the approved rules and procedures.
The initiative’s media plan includes an integrated awareness campaign across social media platforms, media outlets, electronic screens, text messages, and awareness materials. Strategic partners will also support the dissemination of the initiative’s messages to reach all community members.
