Workshop on United Nations police chiefs' performance in peacekeeping operations kicks off

The international workshop, focusing on "United Nations police chiefs' performance in peacekeeping operations," commenced in Abu Dhabi, with extensive international participation. It was hosted by the Ministry of Interior.

Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, opened the workshop sessions. He welcomed participants, including international police leaders, emphasizing the UAE's commitment, under the guidance of its visionary leadership, to enhance global collaboration and support international endeavors aimed at strengthening global security and stability.

Al Khaili asserted that this meeting undeniably contributes to these efforts, enhancing the capabilities of law enforcement personnel and ultimately creating a safer world.

Sessions commenced with a presentation by HE Alexander Zuev, the Assistant Secretary-General for the Rule of Law and Security Institutions at the United Nations. Zuev expressed gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for hosting this global event, which advances policing, security, and peace worldwide through discussions on critical topics related to the performance of police leaders in peacekeeping operations.

Commissioner Faisal Shehkar, the Commander of the United Nations Police, also conveyed his gratitude to the United Arab Emirates and the Ministry of Interior for their support of United Nations bodies and committees

. He highlighted how this support enhances their capabilities in achieving their objectives. Shehkar underscored that the workshop aligns with efforts to bolster the capabilities of police personnel across diverse operational environments, particularly in areas of innovation, future-oriented strategies, and the effective utilization of emerging technologies. Throughout the event, international experts addressed various topics, including performance improvement and challenges encountered in implementing peacekeeping operations.
