MOI Hosts Panel Discussion to Mark International Day of Human Fraternity

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Human Rights Department and in collaboration with the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, organized a panel discussion under the theme "Society and Human Fraternity." The event took place at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of Colonel Dr. Mohammed Khalifa Al Hamoudi, Deputy Director of the Human Rights Department, members of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and a group of specialists from the national qualification course in human rights.

Moderated by media figure Fahad Heikal, the session was part of the annual International Day of Human Fraternity, observed on February 4. Discussions highlighted the importance of fostering tolerance and coexistence core values deeply embedded in the UAE’s identity. The session explored ways to share the UAE’s successful model of peaceful coexistence with the world by promoting humanitarian principles and strengthening cross-cultural and interfaith collaboration.

The discussion opened with a keynote address by Advisor Rashid Ibrahim Al Mutawa Al Nuaimi, Strategic Planning Advisor and General Coordinator of the National Government Initiative "Tolerance Incubator." He underscored the UAE’s pioneering role in championing tolerance and human fraternity on the global stage, detailing the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence’s efforts to nurture a culture of respect and understanding within Emirati society. He emphasized the Ministry’s pivotal role in promoting these values through initiatives aimed at educating future generations about peace and peaceful coexistence.

In his remarks, Major Dr. Hamad Al Shamili, Head of the Local Coordination Section at the Ministry of Interior’s Human Rights Department, highlighted the Ministry’s contributions to strengthening human fraternity within the community. He shed light on innovative rehabilitation programs in penal and correctional institutions, stressing the significance of respecting freedom of worship and fostering a reformative environment that promotes social integration. He also outlined various initiatives led by the Ministry to instill values of tolerance and encourage positive interactions among community members.
