Sharjah Hosts 43rd Police Shooting Championship with GCC Teams' Participation
The 43rd Police Shooting Championship commenced today at the shooting ranges of the Police Sciences Academy in Al Khadira, Sharjah. Organized by the Police Sports Association at the Ministry of Interior and hosted by the Sharjah Police General HQs, the event brings together teams from various sectors of the Ministry of Interior and police general HQs across the country. Additionally, teams from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain including a Bahraini women's team and the Sultanate of Oman are competing. The championship runs until February 27.
The opening ceremony was attended by Brigadier Dr. Omar Mohammed Al-Khayal, Director of the Police Sports Association Department; Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Khamis Al-Othmani, Director General of the Sharjah Police Sciences Academy; heads of participating GCC delegations; and several officers from the Ministry of Interior and police general HQs.
Brigadier Dr. Omar Mohammed Al-Khayal emphasized that the championship aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance the preparedness and operational readiness of police personnel. He highlighted the significance of this year’s Gulf-wide participation, which not only elevates competition levels but also fosters collaboration and experience-sharing among regional forces. He expressed gratitude to the Sharjah Police General HQs for its role in hosting and supporting the success of the Association's initiatives. He also reaffirmed the commitment to advancing police sports, ensuring they serve as a foundation for developing elite national team.
The championship features multiple competitions, including the Friendship Championship for Tactical Police Motor Skills for Men, the Elite Tactical Motor Skills Shooting Competition for Men, the Tactical Motor Skills Shooting Competition for Women, the Tactical Motor Skills Shooting Competition for Officers, the Speed Challenge Competition for Men and Women, the Sniper Competition, the Police Operations Shooting Competition with Rifle for Men and Women, and the Accuracy Challenge Shooting Competition with Pistol for Men and Women.
