ISA Virtual Workshop Focuses on Strengthening Seaport Security

The International Security Alliance General Secretariat, through its Seaport Experts Team, recently held a virtual workshop titled IMO Port Experts, attracting a wide range of international participants. The workshop centered on the topic of controlled deliveries, tailored for ISA’s seaport professionals. A key emphasis was placed on the value of interagency collaboration and information sharing critical components in enhancing law enforcement’s ability to implement sophisticated criminal deterrence strategies. Speakers underscored the essential role controlled deliveries play in curbing illicit trafficking through seaports, highlighting how criminal networks constantly adapt, particularly within the maritime trade sector. They reiterated the necessity of global cooperation and intelligence exchange to bolster maritime security efforts. Participants shared valuable perspectives on best practices, legal structures, and cutting-edge technologies used to monitor and intercept illegal shipments. These insights are crucial for reinforcing port security and undermining the activities of transnational criminal organizations.
Among the workshop’s notable attendees were Frank Dahan, an expert in law enforcement, criminal investigation, and international police collaboration, Philippe Salomon, a criminal judge at the French Embassy in the UAE, alongside a host of international and local specialists who contributed to the discussions.
