MOI marks Human Rights Day

The Ministry of the Interior marked the Human Rights Day 2022 as the Ministry's Human Rights Department organized an event titled "Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All."

This comes as part of the Ministry's efforts and endeavors to promote and protect human rights under the vision of the wise leadership and in accordance with the UAE government’s directives.

In this respect, the government realized several achievements through its approach based on justice and equality and its vision that places people at the center of comprehensive development in the country. 

The event was attended by Maj. Gen. Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Fatima Al Kaabi vice Chairman of the National Commission for Human Rights, and a number of the ministry’s officers. 

Al Khaili stressed that the UAE’s approach since its founding at the hands of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, considers people the most precious asset in the country. For this reason, policies, legislation and development plans focused their priorities on people who are proud of their values, patriotism and positive citizenship. In this way, the UAE’s achievements are witnessed by the entire world to be based on people and the protection of their rights and dignity.

Brig. Gen. Mohamed Ali Al Shehhi, Director of the Human Rights Department Human said that rights in the UAE are authentic historical values ​​and inherited societal traditions, before being framed in its constitution and legislation.

He added that Since its foundation, the state has believed that the human right to justice, equality, and partnership in national gains and development is an inherent right that has been strengthened and established by a constitution and laws that protect the rights of Emirati society

The ceremony started with the national anthem of the UAE, and then a video was presented showing part of the efforts to promote human rights in the country. Then Col. Dr. Mohamed Al Hamoudi, Deputy Director of the Human Rights Department in the Ministry, spoke about the developments of the human rights topic, referring to the great progress achieved by the UAE in terms of protecting human rights, safeguarding freedom, empowerment, investing in the future, and providing a decent life for all citizens and residents residing in the UAE.

The ceremony witnessed the launch of the reference manual for human rights in the field of police work, which is considered a pioneering reference supporting the UAE's efforts in these areas.   

A report on the efforts of the Ministry of the Interior in human rights was also presented, showing the tremendous efforts made to promote and develop human rights. 

The staff enrolled in the initiative to prepare a specialized and qualified national cadres in the field of human rights have graduated after completing the course.
