The committee in charge of following up the implementation of light air sports system, in cooperation with the Security Media Department at the Ministry of Interior, has launched the new version of "The Responsibility is Yours" campaign aimed at raising awareness about the sport and hobby of flying glider planes, its requirements and the laws regulating it.
The campaign also promotes the definition of safe practices related to this sport and the places where the sport is permissible so as to guarantee non-interference with aviation, and provide safety requirements in order to ensure the safety of life and property. It further introduces the requirements of safe practices in order to protect lives and property.
The campaign runs for two weeks and includes media materials through all media outlets and social media, including legal and general awareness in order to enhance the safety and security of light air sports (glider planes), raise awareness about safety requirements and legal culture, and limit the scale of illegal usage and wrong practices associated with practicing this sport.
Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior and head of the committee This campaign comes within the efforts of the committee that seeks to strengthen the procedures and requirements for practicing light sports in a safe and sound manner .It comes also to guarantee the safety of life and property.
His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation said the campaign Promote integrative common work for the interest of community security and safety of individuals and properties; and introducing the most important requirements, laws, good practices and places for practicing air light sports safely.
His Excellency Ahmed Abdullah Bin Lahej Al Falasi, Director General of the Federal Customs Authority said The campaign of raising awareness among the practitioners of paragliding reflects the the importance given by the concerned authorities in the UAE of educating professionals and amateurs of this sport on the legal requirements, procedures and bodies in charge for practicing this sport, and the importance of adhering to those requirements and procedures to maintain the security and stability of society.
His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, Director General of the General Authority for Telecommunications Regulation said The participation of the authority in this campaign reflects commitment to the directives of the wise leadership to enhance security and safety in the various sectors of the state and to provide all services in the communications and information technology sector, in a way that serves both the needs of paragliding practitioners and safety requirements for everyone.
