The Ministry of Interior’s Child Protection Center held awareness lectures for school students via video-conference technology as part of the Ministry’s celebrations of the Emirati Children’s Day. The two day lectures are attended by 150 male and female students as well as a number of educational supervisor from Lulu Primary School and Dhabianya Private School – Grade 1.
The lectures focused on methods of prevention and protection and ways to deal with online abuse. Students were introduced to ways of getting into contact with the Ministry of Interior’s Child Protection Center through the Center’s smart system, including its hotline 116111, Hemayati App and the Center's website.
The Prevention and Awareness Department at the Ministry of Interior’s Child Protection Center provided a brief explanation about the role which parents and the students themselves can play in facing these challenges and addressing abuse or cyberbullying and exploitation or solicitation over the Internet. Students were interacted by raising questions and inquiries related to their online protection, and some of them shared their stories, including hackers’ attempts to seize their personal accounts and lure them online.
