Consultation Subject:

The Ministry of Interior calls for public input on enhancing child protection online, creating a safe digital environment, shielding children from electronic hazards, and combating internet crimes targeting minors.


The objective of consultation:

The Ministry of Interior seeks to raise awareness across society about the risks children encounter online. This includes educating children on digital challenges, safe internet practices, cyberbullying, and combating electronic piracy.


Expected decisions as a result of consultation:

The Ministry anticipates launching awareness programs addressing internet dangers for children, risks associated with online gaming, and highlighting the Ministry's role in child protection. Additionally, they aim to facilitate communication with the Ministry's Center for Child Protection and enhance reporting channels for child abuse cases through platforms like the "Hemayati Application," "Hotline," and "Electronic Reporting."

Outcome

First: The launch of the National Campaign for Child Protection Online, under the slogan "Together for a Safer Internet for Our Children," which coincides with World Safer Internet Day.

The campaign seeks to raise awareness within the community regarding the risks children face online, educating them about digital challenges, how to safely navigate the Internet, the harmful effects of cyberbullying, and addressing online piracy.

Second: An educational event on safe Internet usage for students was organized at the Ministry building, attended by supervisors and educators.

The event covered various aspects such as the role of the Ministry of Interior's Child Protection Center, the "Wadeema" Child Rights Law, responsible Internet usage, and promoting positive citizenship. Presentations included the smart child protection system, featuring the hotline (116111), the Hamayati app, email-based electronic reporting (116111@moi.gov.ae), and the Child Protection Center website (www.moi-cpc.gov.ae). The Khalifa Empowerment Program (Aqdar) also contributed to the event with a workshop on combating cyberbullying.

Third: A series of events and panel discussions were held to discuss the role of family unity in safeguarding children in cyberspace, the importance of safe Internet practices, the use of artificial intelligence for child protection, and broader child protection initiatives in the online world.
