UAE Presents 2nd National Report on the Arab Charter on Human Rights

The UAE delegation, with the participation of the Ministry of Interior, presented the country’s second national report on the Arab Charter on Human Rights before the Arab Human Rights Committee during its 27th session at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.

Colonel Dr. Mohammed Khalifa Al Hamoudi, Deputy Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Interior, was part of the UAE delegation, which included representatives from federal and local government entities as well as civil society organizations involved in human rights.

Since the submission of its first report in October 2019, the UAE has enacted a series of national legislations and continues to advance its institutional framework to further promote and safeguard human rights. Over the past four years, the country has adopted a comprehensive and integrated system of policies and strategies designed to uphold human rights and fundamental freedoms.

The UAE also reaffirmed its commitment to the Arab Human Rights Committee’s vital role as a mechanism that has, in a short time, made significant contributions to advancing Arab efforts within the framework of the League of Arab States. The committee plays a key role in reviewing the Arab human rights strategy and overseeing the implementation of the Arab Charter’s provisions.
