Exploring AI's Role in Security: A Virtual Lecture at 'UAE Innovates 2025' Harnessing Generative AI for Advanced Security Solutions

As part of the "UAE Innovates 2025" initiatives, the Ministry of Interior's Innovation Center, under the General Directorate of Strategy and Performance Development, hosted a virtual lecture in collaboration with Microsoft. The session focused on the applications of generative artificial intelligence in the security field.

Dr. Ahmed Farag, Regional Director of the Security and Justice Sector (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) at Microsoft, delivered the lecture to a distinguished audience of Ministry of Interior officers and police leaders from across the country.

Dr. Farag highlighted how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing security operations, enhancing decision-making in command centers, and enabling the efficient analysis of vast amounts of data handled by security institutions daily. He emphasized AI’s critical role in mitigating cybersecurity threats by offering secure and effective data analysis, thereby strengthening security teams' ability to respond swiftly and accurately to cyberattacks.

The discussion also covered AI’s role in crime detection through digital data analysis and the generation of crucial digital evidence, significantly accelerating the investigative process and improving case resolution rates. Dr. Farag stressed that AI-driven insights provide highly accurate information, leading to faster identification of perpetrators and bolstering the effectiveness of security operations.

Addressing the challenges facing AI adoption in the security sector, Dr. Farag underscored the importance of fostering inter-agency collaboration to maximize the potential of these advanced technologies. He also highlighted the necessity of enhancing technical infrastructure to facilitate seamless communication between security entities, expediting response times and improving coordination in investigations.

Concluding the session, Dr. Farag asserted that the future of security is intrinsically linked to the advancements in artificial intelligence and modern technology. He emphasized that ongoing investment in AI applications is imperative to strengthening security capabilities and ensuring the safety of societies against evolving threats.
