MOI raises health awareness on World Diabetes Day
The Ministry of Interior, through its Public Relations Department, collaborated with the Environment, Health, and Occupational Safety Center in the Quality Department to organize health initiatives to mark the World Diabetes Day on November 14. These initiatives included comprehensive medical examinations at the Ministry's headquarters in partnership with Burjeel Holding Group.
The medical team conducted various examinations, offered nutritional guidance, and emphasized the importance of maintaining overall health through physical activity and sports to prevent chronic diseases and complications. In conjunction with the day, the Ministry hosted a virtual workshop presented by Dr. Suzan Al-Ghariba from Mediclinic Medical Hospital. The workshop focused on raising awareness about diabetes, covering its concept, causes, and potential side effects.
Dr. Al-Ghariba underscored the importance of regular examinations for early detection, especially considering the silent nature of the disease. She advised diabetic patients on the critical need for continuous monitoring with a specialist to ensure timely treatment and avoid serious complications.
Lt. Colonel Jassim Mohamed Ali, Head of the National and Reserve Service Department, highlighted the relationship between diabetes and sports, emphasizing the positive impact of physical activity in disease prevention. He outlined how sports can aid in controlling blood sugar levels and enhance the body's sensitivity to insulin resistance. Lt. Colonel Ali concluded his speech by introducing various exercises and training types, providing general advice for their healthy and safe implementation.
