MOI Enhances Awareness and Supports Environmental Initiatives
The General Directorate of the Federal Criminal Police at the Ministry of Interior, through the Federal Investigation Department, organized a two-day workshop on "Mechanism for Receiving Complaints for Environmental Crimes." The event was conducted via video conference and at the Ministry’s unified call center.
Brigadier Dr. Hamad Al Zaabi, Director of the Federal Investigation Department at the Ministry of Interior, began his remarks by highlighting the UAE’s proactive approach and the Ministry's efforts in promoting environmental protection. He emphasized the importance of national strategies and international collaboration in tackling environmental challenges. He also stressed the Ministry’s dedication to adopting best practices, launching vital initiatives, and ensuring continuous follow-up to prevent environmental damage.
Civilian Laila Al Khanbashi, Director of the Environmental Police Branch, outlined the broader concept of environmental crimes and the critical environmental issues that require urgent action. She emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation and streamlined processes for swift responses and interventions to strengthen environmental protection and safeguard natural resources.
The workshop further covered the mechanisms available for reporting environmental crimes. A dedicated Environmental Police Branch has been established to enforce legal measures and put in place innovative solutions to prevent and address such violations. Complaints can be submitted via the Ministry’s unified communication channels, including the mobile app (moi), the official website (www.moi.gov.ae), or by calling the emergency number (999).
