Security Media Hosts Workshop on Social Media Usage Policy
The Security Media Department, part of the General Directorate of Security Support at the Ministry of Interior, held a specialized workshop titled Disseminating the Policy of Using Social Media at the Ministry of Interior. The event took place in the Union Hall at the Police College, attracting 337 attendees, including university and candidate students. The workshop aimed to enhance the cybersecurity skills of Ministry members, equip them to tackle digital challenges, and familiarize them with social network usage policies at both personal and institutional levels. It also emphasized fostering responsible and cautious interaction with social media platforms.
The workshop was led by Captain Saif Al Murshedi from the Security Media Department. He focused on key aspects of responsible social media usage, detailing the duties and responsibilities Ministry staff must uphold. Particular emphasis was placed on prohibitions to avoid negative impacts on personal and institutional security. Captain Al Murshedi also shared insights on safely and effectively managing social networks in an institutional context, aligning with members’ official duties.
In addition to discussing the proper management of personal accounts, he provided practical tips for engaging on social media platforms without compromising the Ministry’s reputation or harming public interests. The presentation highlighted risks associated with irresponsible social media use, such as information leaks and privacy violations, while also introducing effective digital prevention and protection strategies.
Concluding the workshop, Captain Al Murshedi underscored the importance of collective efforts among Ministry members to achieve heightened security awareness and safeguard digital security. He called for vigilance amid ongoing technological advancements that influence all aspects of modern life.
