MOI Participates in GCC Regional Workshop on Traffic Legislation
The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Traffic Coordination, took part in a regional workshop held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Organized by the General Secretariat of the Ministerial Committee for Traffic Safety, in collaboration with the World Health Organization’s Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, the workshop sought to facilitate the exchange of expertise and insights among participating stakeholders on legislative frameworks and enforcement strategies, within the broader context of comprehensive traffic safety.
Discussions during the workshop covered a range of pressing issues affecting driver behavior, such as excessive speeding, mobile phone use while driving, and the specific challenges associated with young drivers. Participants also examined international experiences in developing robust road safety systems. Additional sessions focused on speed management, vehicle standards, public awareness initiatives tied to law enforcement, and the enhancement of data collection and research methodologies supporting traffic safety.
The event gathered representatives from GCC countries, alongside experts from regional and international organizations and key partners in the health and safety sectors, enriching the dialogue with global perspectives and best practices.
