Federal Criminal Police Conduct Training Program on Criminal Witness Protection
The General Directorate of the Federal Criminal Police, represented by the Federal Security Information Department, organized a specialized training program titled "Criminal Witness Protection" in coordination with the General Directorate of Competencies at the Police Sciences and Technology Institute in Abu Dhabi. The five-day program, held from May 26 to 30, aligns with the Ministry of Interior’s strategic objectives to enhance the capabilities of its personnel and strengthen their preparedness to manage witness protection cases effectively.
The training initiative supports broader efforts to reinforce the police and security system, combat crime, and uphold justice by ensuring the safety of individuals who play a critical role in criminal investigations and judicial proceedings.
The program is designed to equip participants, including Ministry employees and senior police commanders across the UAE, with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the legal and procedural frameworks governing witness protection. As a cornerstone of justice and community safety, protecting witnesses also encourages public cooperation in reporting crimes and supporting law enforcement efforts.
A key component of the training involved an in-depth review of Federal Law No. (14) of 2020 on the protection of witnesses and those in similar positions, along with the executive regulations issued under Cabinet Resolution No. (47) of 2023. Participants were also introduced to international best practices in witness protection, including risk assessment methodologies, preventive measures, and operational mechanisms that enhance the efficiency of criminal investigations and facilitate the delivery of justice.
By integrating legal foundations with practical strategies, the program underscores the Ministry's commitment to fostering a secure environment for witnesses and promoting a culture of community engagement in crime prevention.
