Represented by the Federal Traffic Council, the Ministry of Interior, has rolled out the third unified traffic awareness campaign for 2024, under the slogan An Accident-Free Summer." This campaign, running until September 1, targets all road users and drivers of all types of vehicles. Its goal is to educate the public about the dangers of traffic accidents by promoting adherence to vehicle safety instructions, performing periodic maintenance, and ensuring the safety of tires and loads to preserve lives and property. The campaign aims to achieve safe driving during the summer and reduce the occurrence of accidents and injuries. The campaign aligns with the Ministry of Interior's strategy to make roads safer by raising awareness about the damages caused by traffic accidents, including deaths, injuries, and material losses. Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Chairman of the Federal Traffic Council, stated that the campaign seeks to achieve the highest levels of traffic safety and is part of broader efforts to enhance road security, improve safety, and reduce traffic accidents. It will be implemented in collaboration with strategic partners, including ministries, federal and local bodies, and various traffic safety authorities across the country. To reach the largest possible audience, traffic awareness messages will be broadcast in Arabic, English, and Urdu on various social media platforms. Al Harithi added that the slogan Accident-Free Summer was chosen to coincide with the start of the summer vacation and travel season, which necessitates additional vehicle safety precautions. These include ensuring tire safety, performing regular vehicle maintenance, adhering to permissible load limits (not exceeding 60 centimeters in height), checking the functionality of lights and signals, avoiding carrying flammable materials, complying with traffic laws, maintaining specified speeds, and leaving sufficient safety distances between vehicles.
