MOI signed a MoU with the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) to strengthen cooperation in civil defense fields

In a significant development, the Ministry of Interior signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) to strengthen cooperation in civil defense and to facilitate the exchange of expertise and knowledge.

This memorandum is designed to bolster international collaboration and joint efforts to enhance fire safety strategies and improve rapid response techniques. Ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Interior are focused on advancing international collaboration in combating environmental crimes and enhancing the capabilities of law enforcement to address the growing global challenges posed by climate change and fire-related emissions.

These efforts are part of the International Law Enforcement for Climate Initiative (I2LEC), launched by the Ministry during the World Government Summit in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in 2023. The initiative aims to foster collaboration among law enforcement agencies, international organizations, and governments to develop global frameworks that strengthen research capabilities to combat environmental crimes.
To date, the initiative has achieved significant milestones, including garnering support from over 60 law enforcement agencies worldwide, seizing more than $32 million in proceeds from environmental crimes through joint international operations, and training over 270 law enforcement officials from more than 40 countries.
