GCC Strategy for Combatting Drugs Workshop Explores Executive Measures for Key Sub-themes
On its third day, the "GCC Strategy for Combatting Drugs (2025-2028)" workshop delved into executive measures, initiatives, and proposed activities, focusing on partnership-building mechanisms for key sub-axes. These sub-themes include demand and supply reduction, eliminating drug and psychotropic substance sources, combating money laundering, enhancing judicial and legislative systems, establishing joint national monitoring, and fostering training and capacity building. Specialized working groups, composed of experts from various vital sectors across GCC countries, along with international specialists from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), discussed implementation mechanisms, evaluation and follow-up processes, and key performance indicators at both the national and regional levels for each sub-axis.
The workshop, organized by the GCC General Secretariat in collaboration with the UNODC and hosted by the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi, will continue until September 19.
