HE Lt.-Gen. Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, Chairman of the National Anti-Drugs Council, chaired the 6th meeting of the Council in 2022.
The meeting was held remotely this morning, in the presence of Brig. Gen. Saeed Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Federal Anti-Drugs Department Vice-President of the Council, and Heads of the Supreme National Committees.
The Council reviewed a number of other topics on its agenda, on top of which came the results of the joint framework initiative to control drug at entry ports during the first half of 2022. The initiative is a collaboration among the Ministry of Interior, Customs and the Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Authority to thwart drug smuggling attempts into the UAE.
The Council also reviewed the statistics of seizures of narcotic substances across the customs departments in the country during the first half of the current year 2022.
The Council also discussed the legal violations and the failure to meet the legal conditions and regulations for some medicine sales outlets in the country, by importing raw materials that can be misused and directed to purposes other than those they are intended for.
The Council further discussed a number of other topics on its agenda and came up with the necessary decisions and recommendations.
