Represented by the Ministry of the Interior Center for Child Protection, the Ministry of the Interior organized an awareness workshop on the Child Protection Law, in cooperation and coordination with the General Directorate of Legal Affairs, at Khalifa Park Library in Abu Dhabi. It witnessed the attendance and participation of a number of government and private agencies and institutions. The workshop aimed to enhance community awareness of the importance of caring for children’s rights, provide a safe environment to empower them in society, and provide them with all the necessary opportunities to take part in the areas of community life based on their age, degree of maturity, and advanced capabilities until they grow up on the love of work, taking initiative, legitimate gain, and a spirit of self-reliance.

The specialists in the workshop tackled the concept of the Child Rights Protection Law, and a number of basic topics, the most prominent of which is the clarification of the responsibilities of the agency in charge of enforcing the law, as well as the procedures used to guarantee the rights of the child and the appropriate means for their implementation. The workshop also discussed early intervention methods to reduce risk factors, and their effects on the children and their families, in addition to the complementarity of the positive partnership between the state, the family and society with regard to the responsibilities related to the child, as well as the extent to which the Child Rights Protection Law is in harmony with international agreements and the UAE Constitution.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Interior Child Protection Center undertakes the task of developing, implementing and regulating initiatives and procedures that aim to provide safety, security and protection for all children who live in ot visit the UAE with their families, in line with the directives of the wise leadership that has given all attention to children. In this way, the leadership stressed their consistent policy of supporting child issues in all dimensions and requirements and included them in their development national policies and plans.
