His Highness appreciates the efforts of the Dubai Police to overthrow the plans of an international criminal gang and arrest one of the largest smuggling operations of Captagon tablets in the world, amounting to 86 million tablets with a market value exceeding 3 billion dirhams.
The gang tried to smuggle the tablets by placing them in 651 doors and 432 decorative panels
6 of its members were arrested while trying to remove and store narcotic poisons
The tablets weighed 13 tons and 763,200 kilograms and were distributed in 5 containers.
Extracting the tablets took days using the latest scissors and hydraulic devices
Sheikh Saif bin Zayed expresses deep gratitude to the Dubai Police for their resolute efforts in dismantling an international criminal cartel and apprehending culprits involved in the largest-ever seizure of Captagon, totaling a staggering million 86 tablets, worth more than 3 billion dirhams.
The Dubai Police team conducted a comprehensive briefing for HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, elucidating the intricate details of their extraordinary operation codenamed Storm. This operation exposed the nefarious intentions of an international criminal organization while securing the massive Captagon haul.
In unwavering terms, Sheikh Saif emphasizes that the UAE, guided by sagacious leadership and unwavering directives, remains an epitome of security and a bastion of safety. It stands as an impenetrable fortress against any threat aimed at jeopardizing the security and well-being of the Emirati society. The Minister further underscored the competence of UAE authorities in neutralizing the activities of criminal gangs and drug traffickers, thwarting their sinister designs, and thus preserving the UAE’s immunity against criminals and drug traffickers.
This came as Sheikh Saif received the Dubai Police team, alongside Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior; Lt. General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police; Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs at Dubai Police; Major General Eid Mohammed Thani Hareb, Director of the General Directorate of Drug Control; Brigadier Khalid bin Muwaiza, Deputy Director of the General Directorate of Drug Control at Dubai Police; and several a number of other officers.
In a reciprocal gesture, the Dubai Police General HQs expressed deep appreciation for the unwavering support of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and Chairman of the UAE Drug Control Council, in the relentless fight against transnational organized crime.
Through stringent monitoring and diligent investigative procedures, the Dubai Police General HQs successfully dismantled the criminal cartel specializing in trafficking Captagon tablets. They apprehended six of its members in the act and confiscated a staggering 86,020,000 Captagon tablets, weighing a total of 13,763.2 tons. This haul boasts a market value of exceeding 3 billions dirhams.
The Dubai Police General HQs added that the criminal gang employed innovative smuggling methods, concealing Captagon pills within 651 professionally crafted doors made from robust iron and wood, and concealed them within 432 pieces of high-end home decor furniture panels constructed from expensive gallic materials and wood.
