Unified GCC Traffic Week Kicks Off on Monday with the Theme: “Driving without a Phone”
The Ministry of Interior, through the Federal Traffic Council and in partnership with police general commands and strategic partners, is launching a series of activities for the Unified Gulf Traffic Week under the theme Driving without a Phone. The Sharjah Police General HQs will host the week-long awareness events, aligning with similar initiatives across all emirates.
The activities will begin on Monday with an opening ceremony at City Centre Sharjah, marking the start of the week’s events. This initiative aims to enhance community awareness regarding traffic safety, showcasing regional efforts to improve road security and the innovative technologies being implemented to achieve these objectives.
In Sharjah, the program includes daily demonstrations and lectures focusing on the dangers of using mobile phones while driving and the risks associated with driver distraction. Additional activities feature first aid lessons and educational competitions. Participating organizations include the UAE’s police general commands, National Ambulance, Rafid Vehicle Solutions, Saed Traffic Systems, the Integrated Transport Centre, RTA, the Emirates Driving Company, Emirates Transport, and the Sharjah Driving Institute. These entities will showcase advanced vehicles, traffic patrols, new technologies, and initiatives supporting the nation’s traffic safety efforts.
The events will run daily from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM until the end of the week, encouraging public engagement and participation in promoting traffic awareness. Similar events organized by police general HQs and partners will continue nationwide throughout the Unified GCC Traffic Week.
