Police Champions Excel at Swimming and Rescue Championship

The 11th Police Swimming and Rescue Championship concluded at Dubai’s Hamdan Sports Complex. The event was organized by the Police Sports Association in collaboration with the Dubai Police General HQs and the UAE Swimming Federation. A total of 82 swimmers and lifeguards from 12 teams across various sectors of the Ministry of Interior and police HQs participated, alongside representatives from the General Command of Civil Defense, Special Security Forces Command, Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, and the team of the Dubai State Security Dept.

The championship featured intense competition across eight events, including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, as well as individual and team relay and rescue challenges.

The final standings saw the State Security Department Dubai secure first place with 102 points, followed by the Abu Dhabi Police General HQs in second with 75 points, and the Dubai Police General HQs in third with 39 points.


Brigadier Ahmed Mohammed Mirdas, Director of the General Directorate of Training at Dubai Police, presented the awards to the winners in the presence of Brigadier Dr. Omar Mohammed Al Khayal, Director of the Police Sports Association and Chairman of the Ministry of Interior’s Sports Committee.

Brigadier Al Khayal highlighted that the championship promotes fair competition among teams while enhancing the physical fitness and operational readiness of police personnel. He noted that the 11th edition of the championship is a key platform for developing swimming and rescue skills, strengthening officers’ field preparedness, and raising the overall professionalism and physical capabilities of ministry and police HQs personnel, highlighting the Police Sports Association’s dedication to advancing their professional skills.
