MOI Happiness Directorate Holds Workshop on Mental Health
The General Direcrorate of Happiness at the Ministry of Interior, through its Department of Employee Happiness and in collaboration with the Department of Medical Services, held a virtual workshop on mental health titled Mental Health as Much as Physical Health. This workshop is part of an ongoing series designed to educate employees and create a more supportive work environment.
The session opened with a lecture by Dr. Tharaa Wadah Al-Joud, who highlighted the link between mental and physical health. Referencing the World Health Organization, he defined mental health as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being not just the absence of illness. Dr. Al-Joud emphasized that achieving mental well-being allows individuals to navigate life’s challenges, contribute positively to their communities, and maintain resilience. Dr. Al-Joud also discussed the vital role mental health plays in enhancing focus, fostering positive relationships at work and home, and building a cohesive, productive society. He highlighted that a positive psychological state strengthens the immune system, influencing overall health. The key to achieving this balance, he explained, involves maintaining good nutrition, regular exercise, active social engagement, and seeking medical support when needed.
The workshop concluded with a Q A session, where Dr. Al-Joud addressed attendees’ questions. He expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s commitment to fostering a culture of well-being and continuous education, which supports a healthy and thriving workplace.
