“Your Voice is a Power for a Safe Family”: MOI’s Forum Tackles Violence Against Women

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Women’s Police Council, organized an awareness forum under the slogan Your Voice is a Power for a Safe Family. This initiative is part of the global 16-Day Campaign to Combat Violence Against Women and reflects the Ministry’s commitment to raising awareness about societal protection, community prevention, and safeguarding the rights of all members of society.

Brigadier Sultan Ahmed Bouataba Al Zaabi, Director General of Community Protection and Crime Prevention, emphasized in his opening remarks that this forum aligns with international efforts to combat violence against women. He highlighted how countries worldwide use this campaign to advocate for the protection and empowerment of women against violence, which violates values, morals, religions, and universal humanitarian principles.

Brigadier Al Zaabi also noted the United Nations’ designation of the 16 Days campaign as a global call to action, uniting efforts to reduce all forms of violence. He expressed pride in the UAE’s achievements under its wise leadership, which has empowered women to excel in all fields. He acknowledged women’s vital role alongside men in driving sustainable development, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring equality. Legislation in the UAE guarantees women’s rights, protection, and access to support systems, enabling Emirati society to continue progressing toward excellence and leadership.

He further stressed the importance of adhering to international agreements and fostering behaviors that prevent gender-based violence in all its forms psychological, moral, physical, and financial. Protecting society is a collective responsibility, guided by the UAE’s foundational values of tolerance, justice, equality, and human fraternity.

The forum featured distinguished speakers, including Khadija Al Ajil, Director of the Aman Center for Sheltering Women and Children; Colonel Dr. Ahmed Al Tenaiji, Director of the Federal Social Support Department; Dr. Mansour Habib, Director of the Employee Wellness Department at Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company; Aisha Al Rumaithi, Strategic Planning and Performance Expert at the General Women’s Union; Dr. Fatima Al Hammadi from the Family Development Foundation; and Lawyer Hamid Darwish. Media professional Fahad Haikal from the Ministry’s Human Rights Department moderated the session.

Brigadier Al Zaabi extended his gratitude to the forum’s organizers and participants for their continuous efforts in achieving strategic goals, national priorities, and fostering a safer, more inclusive society.
Speakers addressed the UAE’s progressive efforts in strengthening and empowering women, highlighting the comprehensive policies and legislation in place to ensure their protection. Discussions emphasized the significance of raising awareness through international campaigns to promote societal equality, gender balance, and values of respect, tolerance, and community solidarity.
