The Ministry of Interior took part in the proceedings of the 67th session of the United Nations Drug Control Committee meetings held in Vienna, with numerous delegations representing countries worldwide. During the meeting, the committee deliberated on various draft international resolutions concerning drug-related issues and the imperative of international cooperation to fulfill global commitments in this realm.
Additionally, it discussed endorsing pertinent international recommendations and showcased a selection of successful global endeavors and initiatives aimed at combating the drug menace. Heading the Ministry's delegation was Brigadier Saeed Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director General of Federal Narcotics Control. In his address, Al Suwaidi underscored the Ministry's steadfast dedication, alongside relevant state entities, to executing effective drug control measures within society.
These efforts, he emphasized, are channeled through practices, programs, and procedures outlined in the National Drug Control Strategy, crafted in alignment with national aspirations and international obligations stipulated by global agreements. Al Suwaidi highlighted the Emirati approach and initiatives targeting drug prevention among young demographics, leveraging social media platforms, awareness exhibitions, and ongoing workshops to bolster understanding of the perils of drug abuse and its societal ramifications.
Furthermore, he reiterated the UAE's commitment to bolstering international collaboration and collective action in exchanging experiences, knowledge, and information, underscoring its pivotal role in the nation's anti-drug endeavors. As the UAE fortifies its international partnerships, it remains an active participant and advocate in all pertinent international events and gatherings geared towards reinforcing anti-drug measures.
