Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, convened with Kojo Boachi, Head of Operations and Public Policy for the Africa, Middle East, and Turkey region of Meta Group, alongside Helen Charles, Public Policy Manager, WhatsApp EMEA. During the session held at Meta International Company, covering various influential platforms including WhatsApp, Sheikh Saif explored avenues for collaboration in adopting and implementing technical measures to combat crime. Emphasis was placed on strategies to curb the dissemination of drug-related content, underscoring its pivotal role in bolstering societal protection efforts, particularly among youth and teens who are heavily reliant on modern technologies. The Ministry of Interior, in conjunction with the Office of Artificial Intelligence and the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, continues to collaborate with Meta in ongoing endeavors to address suspicious messages promoting drugs and illicit substances on social media platforms. These joint efforts have yielded substantial reductions in drug-related content within a remarkably short timeframe.
