Ministry of Interior Joins Global Anti-Fraud Alliance
The UAE Ministry of Interior participated in the Global Anti-Fraud Alliance (GASA) conference held in Singapore, with the participation of a select group of experts, officials, and representatives of government agencies and private sectors from around the world.
The conference was opened by the Honourable Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State and Minister for Digital Development and Health of Singapore, who praised the role of the Global Anti-Fraud Alliance and its global role in bringing together key sectors in government, law enforcement, and the private sector, including technology, finance, and other sectors. Also participating was the Honourable Goh Pei Ming, Minister of State at the Ministry of Home Affairs, who addressed the challenges facing governments and societies resulting from financial fraud and the need to find innovative solutions through cooperation between various government and private sectors.
In its keynote speech during the keynote session, the Ministry of Interior affirmed the UAE's commitment to strengthening international cooperation in combating fraud and financial crimes, noting that fraud is one of the most prominent cross-border challenges threatening economic and social security in light of the rapid development of digital technologies.
The Ministry emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise and developing international partnerships to build the capacity of law enforcement agencies and strengthen legislative and technical systems, ensuring a more effective response to emerging forms of fraud.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that its participation in the Global Anti-Fraud Alliance aligns with the UAE's commitment to joint action and protecting communities, contributing to a safer and more just environment at the regional and international levels.
The Global Anti-Fraud Alliance witnessed a wide turnout, with more than 1,500 experts and specialists from around the world participating, both in person and virtually. The conference brought together representatives from major global technology companies, along with banking and financial institutions, providing an integrated platform for exchanging expertise and knowledge, and showcasing the latest innovations and solutions to address the growing challenges associated with fraud crimes.
The Global Anti-Fraud Alliance (GASA) is an international, non-profit coalition aimed at protecting consumers worldwide from fraud, particularly digital fraud. This coalition fosters cooperation among a wide range of stakeholders, including governments, law enforcement agencies, consumer protection organizations, the financial sector, technology companies, and cybersecurity agencies.
