Saif bin Zayed Meets with Russian Minister of Emergency Situations and Signs MoU to Step Up Civil Defense Cooperation
HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, met in Abu Dhabi with HE Lt. General Alexander Kurenkov, Minister of Emergency Situations, Civil Defense, and Disaster Management of the Russian Federation.
During the meeting, both sides discussed several key issues of mutual interest, with a focus on enhancing cooperation in police and security matters between the two nations. Sheikh Saif and the Russian Minister also signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the UAE Ministry of Interior and the Russian Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Disaster Management. The MoU seeks to deepen collaboration in civil defense, disaster prevention, and civil protection.
The meeting was attended by prominent UAE officials, including His Excellency Ambassador Mohammed Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Ambassador to Russia; Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior; HE Lt. General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police; His Excellency Major General Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police; Major General Hamdan Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Commander of the National Guard; Major General Jassim Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Commander-in-Chief of Civil Defense; and several other officers.
From the Russian delegation, attendees included HE Timur Zabirov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the UAE; HE Lt. General Anatoly Sobronovsky, Deputy Minister and Inspector General for Fire Supervision; HE Roman Korinin, Deputy Minister for Civil Defense, Emergency Situations, and Disaster Management; Colonel Oleg Kuleshov, Advisor to the Russian Minister for Civil Defense and Emergency Situations; and other officials. During their visit, the Russian delegation was briefed on the UAE Ministry of Interior’s best practices in police, security, disaster prevention, and civil protection. They were also introduced to the cutting-edge technologies utilized by the Ministry, aimed at ensuring community safety.
The delegation toured the central operations room, the Civil Defense Academy, the Safe City project, and several other departments within the Ministry.
