GCC Emergency Management Meets
The UAE is participating in a high-level meeting organized by the GCC Emergency Management Center of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council. With experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency and in line with its training program, the gathering aims to review and improve emergency preparedness and response arrangements at the center.
Leading the UAE delegation, Brigadier Abdul Aziz Al-Ahmad, Director General of Central Operations at the Ministry of Interior, joined officials from other GCC nations, radiological and nuclear emergency specialists, and representatives from regional and international organizations, including sectors of health, security, and environment. The four-day meeting, held in Kuwait, focuses on evaluating and strengthening the center’s readiness to handle radiological and nuclear emergencies.
During his address, Brigadier Al-Ahmad emphasized the UAE’s dedication to fostering cooperation, exchanging expertise, and leveraging international collaboration to enhance prevention, preparedness, and responsiveness. He underscored the significance of a united approach, stating, The challenges we face today require us to work together in a framework strengthened by joint integrated work and the spirit of one team to achieve goals that serve the interests of our peoples. He further highlighted that the meeting embodies GCC solidarity, calling for continued efforts in sharing ideas, exchanging experiences, and supporting pioneering initiatives that serve all GCC nations.
This crucial meeting provides a platform to assess the center’s current protocols, identify areas for improvement, and strengthen regional coordination for a cohesive emergency response. The event includes presentations, workshops, and lectures focusing on emergency preparedness, response frameworks, and inter-regional cooperation procedures.
