Environmental Police Coordination Meeting Discusses Environmental Protection

The General Directorate of the Federal Criminal Police at the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Federal Investigation Department, convened a virtual coordination meeting for the Environmental Police. The session focused on mechanisms for unified coordination and enhanced collaboration with strategic partners and police general HQs, alongside proposals for development aimed at bolstering environmental protection efforts and ensuring the sustainability and conservation of natural resources.

Lieutenant Colonel Nahyan Yahya Al Nuaimi, Head of the Federal Investigation Department, inaugurated the meeting in the presence of representatives from police general HQs across the country. He underscored the importance of harmonizing efforts and standardizing procedures across all general HQs. The meeting was dedicated to discussing several key topics related to environmental crimes and national strategies for cohesive and integrated cooperation with relevant partners. Central to these efforts is the adoption of a unified platform for receiving environmental reports and complaints, thereby guaranteeing prompt response and swift, highly professional case handling.

During the workshop, Laila Al-Khanbashi, Civilian Director of the Environmental Police Branch, presented an overview of the Environmental Police’s overarching concept, along with its core roles and responsibilities, which include monitoring, enforcement, coordination, and investigation of environmental cases. The workshop further explored the Ministry’s available methods and technologies for reporting various environmental violations and harmful phenomena. These efforts are carried out by a dedicated Environmental Police team tasked with taking appropriate legal action and devising innovative, modern solutions to curb the proliferation of environmental crimes and unlawful practices. Reports and complaints are received through the Ministry’s official communication channels.
