UAE Police Team Wins Six Medals at Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Turkey
The UAE Police team concluded their participation in the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Turkey Jiu-Jitsu Championship, held from June 7-9 at the Başakşehir Gen lik Hall in Istanbul, with a total of six medals: three gold, two silver, and one bronze.
They were greeted upon their return at Zayed International Airport by Brigadier Dr. Omar Mohamed Al Khayal, Director of the Police Sports Association Department and Chairman of the Sports Committee at the Ministry of Interior, Major Mohamed Ahmed Hamdoun from the Protocol and Ceremonial Department of the Dubai Police General HQs, and several officers. Brigadier Al-Khayal congratulated the team, attributing their success to the support and guidance of senior leadership, the backing of the general police leadership, and the collective efforts of the coaches and players. He emphasized the importance of their continuous dedication and hard work in achieving these sporting accomplishments.
The championship, organized by the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association, saw UAE champions win a total of 42 medals: 14 gold, 16 silver, and 12 bronze. The event featured a strong international presence with top-tier players from around the globe. The UAE had a significant turnout, with 82 male and female participants across different categories: 12 in the amateur category, 20 in the masters category, and 50 in the professional category. Overall, the championship included 1,000 competitors from 80 academies representing 41 countries.
