Saif bin Zayed Attends Workshop on Developing General Policies of Minors

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior attended part of a workshop that discussed initiatives of developing and drafting the general policies related to the minors in the UAE.
The workshop was organized by policies section at the General Secretariat of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior with a participation of 16 local and federal government bodies.

Sheikh Saif was briefed about the initiatives promoting the wellbeing of minors such as forming a strategy committee representing the concerned government bodies, unifying awareness programs, creating specialized courts for minors, and enhancing partnership and cooperation to exchange information and initiatives among the various stakeholders.

The workshop was inaugurated by Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrerbani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior who welcomed the participants, emphasizing the ministry of interior's commitment, in cooperation with the partners, to promote the UAE government vision to become on top of the developed countries and to take wider steps towards progress.

Speaking about the topics and goals of the workshop, Colonel Faisal Sultan Al Shuaibi, Deputy Director General of Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry addressed the international policies, suggestions and practices. He explained the general situation of minors' delinquency in the county, exploring the major challenges and the practical suggestions to confront them.

"We got acquainted with the international standards implemented by advanced countries in dealing with minors", said Major Saeed Salim Al Shamesi, Head of Polices and Standards at the General Directorate of Strategy and Development Performance at the Ministry.

He indicated that the Ministry of Interior has availed of the experience of the US, Canada, Norway, and the UK in their efforts to apply preventive programs and early intervention; emphasizing the importance of effective partnerships with the stakeholders in this regard.

The workshop was attended by Dr. Amin Hussain Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Medical Practice and License Sector at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamesi, Attorney General, Colonel Mohammed Humaid Dalmouj Al Dhahiri, Director General of Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry of Interior, Colonel Mubarak bin Meheroum, Director General Of Community Protection And Crime Prevention at the Ministry of Interior, Colonel Dr. Ibrahim Al Dabl, General Coordinator of the Khalifa Empowerment Student Program, Maryam Mohammed Al Rumaithi, director general of the Family Development Foundation, and a number of police officers, officials from the Child Protection Center and other concerned government participants.
