Marking Safer Internet Day: A Lab for Young Minds by MOI's Child Protection Center
The Ministry of Interior’s Child Protection Center, in collaboration with the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, organized an innovation lab for children under the theme Let’s Innovate and Create Our Future. The event took place at the Innovation Hall within the Ministry of Interior’s Innovation Center, in the presence of Sheikha Rawda bint Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the UAE Children’s Parliament, Major General Salem Ali Mubarak Al Shamsi, Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Support Services at the Ministry of Interior, members of the UAE Children’s Parliament, and several Ministry officers.
Held in conjunction with Safer Internet Day, the lab is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to enhance digital awareness and child protection. The initiative aimed to educate participants on safeguarding children from online risks, addressing digital challenges, and empowering them to share their perspectives on current and future issues. It also emphasized the importance of digital literacy, promoting responsible and secure Internet usage.
Discussions revolved around two key themes: protecting oneself from online risks and overcoming digital challenges. Participants explored ways to shield children from threats such as harmful content, cyberbullying, and privacy breaches. They also delved into the difficulties young users face in navigating the digital world and proposed innovative solutions for a safer online future.
