MOI and Ministry of Tolerance Host Workshop on International Day for Tolerance
The Ministry of Interior’s General Directorate of Relations and Protocol, in partnership with the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, held a virtual training workshop titled International Day forvTolerance. The event welcomed participants from diverse sectors and departments within the Ministry, furthering efforts to cultivate a tolerant workplace culture and promote an inclusive environment across the organization.
Led by Alia Al Marzouqi, a certified trainer with the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, the workshop emphasized tolerance as a cornerstone for positive community interactions, mutual respect, and social harmony. Al Marzouqi engaged participants with discussions on the importance of tolerance in overcoming conflict, prejudice, and hostility, contrasting these with the constructive benefits tolerance brings, such as respect for diverse beliefs and cultures.
Key topics covered included the concept and history of tolerance, intellectual perspectives on tolerance and societal safety, the UAE’s framework for tolerance, and the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence’s strategic initiatives. The session also delved into the historical role of Islamic civilization in promoting tolerance and the critical need to prevent extremists from exploiting the concept of tolerance, thus underscoring the need for legal measures to safeguard society.
Highlighting the UAE’s commitment to tolerance, the workshop examined enduring national principles, such as the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, the UAE’s anti-discrimination and anti-hate laws, national awards for tolerance, and the establishment of a dedicated Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence. It also celebrated significant milestones like the signing of the Human Fraternity Document in Abu Dhabi and the integration of Emirati values into policies promoting harmony and respect.
This workshop was part of a series of initiatives led by the Ministry of Interior to foster an open, respectful, and culturally aware work environment that aligns with the UAE’s values and vision.
