The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Women’s Police Council, organized an awareness forum under the slogan Your Voice is a Power for a Safe Family. This initiative is part of the global 16-Day Campaign to Combat Violence Against Women and reflects the Ministry’s commitment to raising awareness about societal protection, community prevention, and safeguarding the rights of all members of society.
Brigadier Sultan Ahmed Bouataba Al Zaabi, Director General of Community Protection and Crime Prevention, emphasized in his opening remarks that this forum aligns with international efforts to combat violence against women. He highlighted how countries worldwide use this campaign to advocate for the protection and empowerment of women against violence, which violates values, morals, religions, and universal humanitarian principles.
Brigadier Al Zaabi also noted the United Nations’ designation of the 16 Days campaign as a global call to action, uniting efforts to reduce all forms of violence. He expressed pride in the UAE’s achievements under its wise leadership, which has empowered women to excel in all fields. He acknowledged women’s vital role alongside men in driving sustainable development, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring equality. Legislation in the UAE guarantees women’s rights, protection, and access to support systems, enabling Emirati society to continue progressing toward excellence and leadership.
He further stressed the importance of adhering to international agreements and fostering behaviors that prevent gender-based violence in all its forms psychological, moral, physical, and financial. Protecting society is a collective responsibility, guided by the UAE’s foundational values of tolerance, justice, equality, and human fraternity.
