MOI Welcomes Delegation from Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee
His Excellency Major General Salem Ali Mubarak Al Shamsi, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, welcomed a delegation from the Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee. The delegation, led by His Excellency Counselor Jaber Saleh Al Marri, made an official visit to the UAE as part of preparations for discussing the country’s second report on the Arab Charter on Human Rights, scheduled for late January 2025.
During their visit to the Ministry’s headquarters, the delegation was introduced to the Ministry’s best practices and proactive efforts in adopting national and international strategies to safeguard human rights and fundamental freedoms across various aspects of life.
Key departments, including the Human Rights Department, Federal Social Support Department, Ministry of Interior’s Child Protection Center, Juvenile Institution Department, Women’s Police Council, Ministry of Interior’s Youth Council, and the Anti-Human Trafficking Crimes Committee, shared insights on pioneering initiatives and projects. These efforts underline the Ministry’s commitment to upholding public freedoms, individual rights, and community security.
The presentations emphasized the Ministry’s role in promoting human rights, equality, and justice, guided by legislation and laws aligned with the highest international standards. The delegation also explored innovative models in security and policing that enhance societal protection, improve workforce capabilities, and foster greater awareness of human rights principles.
The Arab Charter on Human Rights, a regional document adopted by the Council of the League of Arab States, plays a pivotal role in promoting human rights across the region. The UAE stands out as a leading Arab nation in its dedication to upholding the Charter's principles and advancing effective mechanisms to support and protect human rights.
