Rabdan Academy Hosts Training Workshop on Victimology and Law Enforcement Support for People of Determination
The Safe Communities Forum organized a training workshop at Rabdan Academy in Abu Dhabi, titled Victimology and Law Enforcement Support for People of Determination. The workshop targeted a group of the academy’s graduate students and was conducted both in person and online.
Speakers from the Safe Communities Forum focused on two main themes: equipping law enforcement personnel with fundamental awareness and interaction strategies related to disabilities, and building community trust by ensuring justice and supporting officers with disabilities.
The workshop also explored legal frameworks, including United Nations conventions and their obligations, with a focus on practical and accessible arrangements. Participants received an overview of various disabilities motor, sensory, cognitive, mental health, and developmental.
In addition, best practices were highlighted, such as respecting assistive methods, using clear communication, involving mental health professionals, and employing de-escalation strategies to foster respectful and safe interactions. The session concluded with case studies, real-world scenario exercises, and collaborative learning activities.
