MOI Hosts Community Forum to Combat Cyber Fraud

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Community Protection and Crime Prevention, organized a community forum titled Be Aware of Cyber Fraud at the National Archives and Library in Abu Dhabi. The forum aimed to shed light on the growing risks of cybercrime, highlight various forms of digital fraud, and explore effective prevention strategies.

Brigadier Mohammed Humaid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of the Office of His Highness the Minister of Interior, and Colonel Dr. Saif Al Khuraibani Al Nuaimi, Deputy Director-General of the General Directorate of Community Protection and Crime Prevention, attended the event alongside representatives from the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, the Emirates Safer Internet Society, and department directors from the General Directorate of Community Protection.

The forum explored multiple aspects of cyber fraud in the digital age, delving into the evolution of fraud tactics and the increasing use of advanced technology in digital crimes. Experts emphasized the importance of awareness in reducing cybercrime, educating individuals on emerging fraud techniques, and equipping them with strategies to counteract them. Discussions also covered future approaches to combating cyber fraud, including the role of artificial intelligence in early detection.

Moderated by Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Al Badawi, Deputy Director of the Khalifa Empowerment Program (Aqdar), the forum featured key experts in digital security. Dr. Hamed Mohammed Al Neyadi, Board Member of the Emirates Safer Internet Society, outlined recent advancements in internet security and strategies to enhance fraud protection. Sara Issa Al Marzouqi, Senior Security Training and Awareness Officer at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, presented security awareness initiatives and training programs to help individuals safeguard against cyber threats. Lieutenant Colonel Mubarak Saeed Al Hamli, Deputy Director of the Federal Cybercrime Department, highlighted the critical role of law enforcement in combating digital fraud.

Colonel Dr. Saif Al Khuraibani Al Nuaimi stated: This forum is a vital step in strengthening national efforts to combat cyber fraud and protect society from digital crimes. It aligns with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy to enhance awareness among individuals and institutions about cybersecurity threats. Our goal is to foster a strong digital security culture that empowers individuals to confront these evolving risks.

He further stressed that effectively combating cyber fraud requires robust collaboration between governmental and private sector entities to establish a secure digital environment. This involves developing advanced mechanisms for early fraud detection, enhancing community awareness, and training individuals on responsible digital practices.

Public cooperation with relevant institutions is the first line of defense against cyber fraud, Colonel Al Nuaimi added. Every individual must adopt responsible digital behavior, remain vigilant, and take proactive steps to protect their personal data and online accounts.
