MOI, 42 Abu Dhabi Organize InnovageX Hackathon Looking Forward to Creative Solutions

The Ministry of Interior, in partnership with 42 Abu Dhabi, organized the Innovation Hackathon (InnovateX), bringing together over 100 student programmers from 32 countries. The event aimed to enhance the Ministry's application by developing innovative digital solutions to facilitate access to services and introduce new smart features, thereby increasing client satisfaction and happiness. InnovateX provided an opportunity for 42 Abu Dhabi students to propose new features that improve user experience, particularly for people of determination and senior citizens. These features included gamification techniques to enhance user knowledge and engagement with the application, reflecting the Ministry's commitment to digital innovation and supporting the UAE's digital transformation efforts. Dr. Ahmed Sultan Al Shuaibi, Executive Director of the Higher Education Sector at the Department of Education and Knowledge - Abu Dhabi, emphasized the collaboration between the Department and the Ministry of Interior in fostering innovative projects in software. This partnership aligns with the department’s goal of evolving the educational system in digital sciences and future skills, ensuring that educational outcomes meet labor market needs. The hackathon successfully improved the Ministry’s application, enhancing accessibility and ease of use for all individuals, demonstrating the potential of the programming community in Abu Dhabi. Lieutenant Colonel Engineer Rashid Khalfan Al Kindi, Director of the Ministry of Interior’s Innovation Center, highlighted the Ministry’s dedication to fostering innovation and creating an incubating environment for innovators in line with UAE government directives and the Ministry’s strategic plans. He noted that the collaboration with 42 Abu Dhabi is part of efforts to promote innovation and support national initiatives, empowering Emirati youth and enhancing their skills. Markus M ller Habig, Acting CEO of 42 Abu Dhabi, expressed pleasure in hosting the hackathon with the Ministry of Interior. He noted that the event aligns with the school’s commitment to providing a pioneering educational experience, collaborating with sector leaders, and nurturing talent and future leaders in digital fields. The event also aimed to expand strategic partnerships and offer unparalleled development opportunities for students, contributing significantly to the digital transformation in Abu Dhabi and the UAE. At the conclusion of the three-day event, Dr. Ahmed Sultan Al Shuaibi and Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Khalfan Al Kendi honored the hackathon winners. The first-place team received 20,000 dirhams, the second-place team 15,000 dirhams, and the third-place team 10,000 dirhams. The winning projects featured advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data training, computer vision, natural language processing, and blockchain. In February, the Ministry of Interior signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Education and Knowledge, represented by 42 Abu Dhabi, to collaborate on innovative software projects and joint training initiatives.
