MOI Hosts Educational Workshops for World Mental Health Day
In celebration of World Mental Health Day, observed annually on October 10, the Ministry of Interior organized a series of virtual workshops aimed at raising awareness among its staff members. These sessions focused on broadening the understanding of mental health issues, discussing treatment approaches, and addressing the key challenges faced by individuals and communities regarding mental well-being.
The workshops aimed to equip participants with the necessary tools to support mental health and reduce the negative impacts of these conditions, contributing to safer, healthier, and more sustainable societies.
As part of the initiative, the Federal Social Support Department held a workshop titled New Skills for Life, led by psychological specialist Hanan Abdel Salam. In this session, Dr. Hanan discussed the general concept of mental health and emphasized modern strategies for coping with life’s pressures. The workshop aimed to provide participants with new skills to better manage change, offering insights on stress and anxiety management, problem-solving, and the psychological tools necessary for overcoming both professional and social challenges. The session also focused on enhancing healthy communication skills and fostering positive relationships in the workplace.
In addition, the Ministry’s General Directorate of Happiness, in collaboration with Burjeel Hospital, organized a virtual educational session on mental health and quality of life. Led by Dr. Nada Omar, the workshop explored the critical role of mental health and emotional stability in shaping positive behavior and workplace performance, as well as broader social contributions. Dr. Nada highlighted the increasing global focus on mental health, now seen as equally important as physical health, with specialized organizations like the World Health Organization leading the way. The session also introduced practical exercises for psychological recovery, such as listening to one’s conscience, showing empathy and support for others, avoiding dwelling on past traumatic experiences, and taking regular breaks to alleviate work-related stress and life difficulties.
These workshops, held in conjunction with World Mental Health Day, are a vital part of national efforts to raise awareness about the importance of mental health as a cornerstone of overall well-being. Through such initiatives, the Ministry of Interior aligns with its strategic priorities to enhance the quality of life in the workplace, aiming to increase satisfaction and happiness among all employees
