The UAE Ministry of Interior has concluded a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Tax Authority to enhance partnership and cooperation between the two entities for their mutual interest.

The memorandum was signed this morning by Maj. Gen. Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, and Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director General of the Federal Tax Authority, via video conference.

The conclusion of the memorandum came at the directive of the UAE leadership and in line with both sides’ strategic plans. It also reflects their distinguished relations and their keenness to further expand coordination and exchange experiences in all fields. As a result, the two entities will strengthen cooperation in detecting crimes outlined in risk assessments by the Ministry of Interior and the Federal Tax Authority.

The memorandum of understanding will facilitate effective coordination and communication between the two sides and foster information exchange, all the while promoting the use of a secure electronic link in order to transfer knowledge and develop the professional skills of the two parties' employees in training and technical assistance.

The signing ceremony was attended by Brig. Gen. Abdulaziz Al Ahmad, Deputy Director General of the Federal Criminal Police at the Ministry of Interior, Chairman of the Money Laundering Crimes Investigations Authorities Sub-Committee in the UAE, and HE Hamid Saif Al Zaabi, Director of the Executive Office of Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism in the UAE.
